Festival of Photos, Reportages and Documentary Films on the Peoples in ASEAN Community in Vietnam 2015

29 December 2015 – The Award Ceremony for the Festival of Photos was successfully conducted on 15 December 2015 in Hanoi, Vietnam in the presence of the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communication Vietnam, Head of Culture and Information Division ASEAN Secretariat, Senior Officials from ASEAN missions in Vietnam, Malaysian Tourism Attache as well as media from Brunei, Malaysia (Bernama and RTM) and Indonesia.

Over 1489 photos submitted (an increase from 867 in 2013) with 62 chosen as finalists for the still photos category with the only submission selected in the finalist from Malaysia being the 3 photos for the ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP).

The finalist from Malaysia for the documentary category (11 finalists out of 113 entries) was Mr. Richard Ung, a Filmmaker who submitted documentaries on Rice. He then went on to win the Consolation and third prize awards respectively.

AYVP won the Consolation award that carried the prize of a plaque and cash amounting to USD500. In 2013, AYVP won third place.

The first prize winner went to the entry from Vietnam with the cash prize of USD1600 while the second prize went to Myanmar and Vietnam each winning the USD1200 cash award.

The winning video documentary went to Myanmar and Vietnam took second place respectively. Only 7 countries in ASEAN submitted entries to this Biennial festival with Brunei, Thailand and Singapore absent this year.
