“If you can’t feed a hundred people then feed just one.”

-Mother Teresa

I came from a country that has men made disasters, natural disasters yet people are lack of awareness about DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction). Whenever I think I couldn’t do great things, the above quote always remind me to move on. So besides my job, I always wonder what else can I do for my community and these continuous thoughts lead me to the journey of AYVP.

Before my journey begins, I was just hoping to learn only DRR awareness, but here, it is much more about DRR. For me, personally, the best part is the volunteering service in the respective community. Observing the realistic of the community and learning how they handle this situation helped me to realize the first week input sessions.

Meeting with inspiring people, young and old, motivates my passions and change me to be more optimistic and grateful human. During these weeks, my zero knowledge of DRR turns to certain level and got the tools to implement in my own community.

I had a dream to participate in ASEAN program and would like to know more about ASEAN. Finally, I can feel the sense that being a part of ASEAN community here. We all come from such a diverse community, yet We Are One under the umbrella of ASEAN. And, this harmonious community makes me to fall in love with AYVP.

Among my AYVP siblings, I have seen the acceptance that has given a platform that to reach the comfort level for me, myself and everyone. I have considered the incredible stories of each one and close enough with these friends.

A month, just a month but every single minute is the greatest moment, greatest memory for me.

Again, I would like to conclude with my favorites quote by Mother Teresa.

“I can do things you cannot; you can do things I cannot. Together we can do great things.”

Together we shared; we cared and built the strong friendship without even noticing it. I believe each of us will build the rich environment through our beautiful experiences.
