I come from a rich background. My father, U Myint Kyaw, is a man who takes care of his daugter, I myself, for his whole life with full of love and compassion. However, I never acknowledged his love for me because I was selfish and proud of myself.
Throughout my life, I thought being selfish is not a sin because in the selfish world, the selfish people always succeed.

But, TIME is a living God. It changes everything. It changes me as well when I meet my elder sister Josephin after 3 years. In these 3 years, she was serving in the community, working for the people, teaching English and Tamil language to school kids and doing community services. Like me, she had lots of money ,but she got out of the house as a strong woman and did community services. When I meet her again, she tells me these:

“THE PLACE I AM LIVING NOW IS A SMALL VILLAGE NEAR THE SEA. THERE IS NO GOOD FOOD, NO ELECTRICITY, NO PROPER EDUCATION FOR THE KIDS. BUT, THERE ARE SOME VALUABLE THINGS THAT YOU CAN FIND: SMILING KIDS, SELFLESS PEOPLE WHO ARE LIVING IN CONTENT AND ENDLESS LOVE. NOW, I WANT TO LIVE THROUGH THE REST OF MY LIFE THERE!”

I could not believe what she says. But , I know that when she tells something, it is true. Then, I changed my life not to be selfish again. I applied AYVP and was selected. When I started doing the community project, I realize what my sister says is true. I find the trueself in me after my community project in Barangay Banaba and Payatas. I am also blessed to be friends with other 46 DRR leaders from Asean countries. Now, I realize my Dad’s love, too.

These things would not have happened if AYVP do not select me. I thank AYVP for giving me the best memories of my life. I used to be selfish but now I am not.
